Have you heard of the Summer Reading Challenge?
The Summer Reading Challenge is aimed at children aged four to eleven, and encourages them to keep up their reading skills and confidence over the long summer break. It is run in almost all libraries in the UK and it is completely free. You can go to your local library during the summer holidays where you can register for free and collect some fun materials to get started. The aim of the Challenge is to get children to read any six books of their choice from their library during the summer holidays.
Every year there’s a different theme. The Summer Reading Challenge 2018 is called Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved iconic children’s title Beano, which celebrates its 80th anniversary.
We hope lots of pupils have fun taking part this Summer and we look forward to hearing about it and seeing your medals when we return to school in September.
