Catherine Ireland – Headteacher

I have been the Headteacher of Thatto Heath Community Primary School since September 2007 and it is my privilege to welcome you to our school’s website.

The purpose of our website is to give you a picture of our school, share some of the educational experiences that help our children learn successfully and provide you with some useful information.

Care for the vulnerable and critical workers children

As you will be aware the government has moved to the “delay” phase of the plan to tackle coronavirus. They have advised that anyone with a “new, continuous” cough or high temperature should now self-isolate for seven days.

If your child has symptoms and they begin a period of selfisolation, please let the school know as soon as possible. Please also advise us if there are any suspected or confirmed cases in your immediate family.

The Government has issued COVID-19 stay at home guidance and this can be found by following the link below:

Stay at Home Guidance

We receive regular information direct from the DFE and Public Health England which we will of course follow. Children, staff and visitors are being directed to wash their hands regularly as this is the most effective way of preventing spread. The children will also be encouraged to drink water throughout the day. Please ensure that your child has their water bottle in school each day.

We have now put the following additional measures in place:

• no assemblies;
• postponement of the Y5 assembly;
• no school visits and sporting events;
• cancellation of Family Friday and the Reception parent workshops;
• cancellation of the PTFA Easter Bingo;
• cancellation of our Tuesday’s Tots group;
• limitation on all external visitors into school;
• restriction on parents/ carers entering the site;
• further staggering of playtimes and lunchtimes, to reduce interaction between year groups;
• additional cleaning of the building and toys throughout the day.

At this point in time all clubs will continue.

Due to the changing national picture from next term there will be no extra curricular clubs after school.

Please note this does not include the Breakfast and After school child care facility. These can be booked on- line if you have registered. Payment must be made in advance.

We will also be suspending the Star Writer and Reading trophy that goes home each week. Once it is returned this week we will keep it in school for the time being.

Guidance on Social Distancing

Several parents have contacted the school via the Edulink APP expressing concern about their child self-isolating as they have entered an attendance monitoring period. The health of our children, families and community are the only concern and of course no attendance fixed penalties will be issued for the rest of the academic year.

We have also been developing an online learning hub which you and your child will be able to access in the event of a school closure or period of isolation if your child is well enough.

This is still being worked on but can be accessed via the link is below:

If your family are self-isolating and you are having problems accessing our online learning hub please use the help button on the home page. One of my IT team will respond. Passwords can be requested if your child hasn’t brought these home.
