Religious Education

In our school we are committed to developing the children’s knowledge and understanding of, and their ability to respond to, Christianity and to other principle world religions and philosophies. Children will explore issues within faiths and compare and contrast their beliefs, values and traditions. This will be implemented through links with the local church and other places of worship. Thus enabling children to develop a further understanding of Christianity and enabling the children to experience elements of different faiths, developing an understanding of the differences and similarities between people of other faiths. Through their growing knowledge and understanding of the major religions children will gain an appreciation of other cultures. They will develop their sense of identity and belonging and become empathetic towards others. We believe it is important to help children to learn from religions as well as about them.

We believe that Religious Education should enable children to develop a sense of their own worth and their value in the community. They will be encouraged to reflect on the meaning and purpose of life and develop skills to analyse and evaluate their beliefs, values and practices and communicate their responses. We provide opportunities to explore the wonders of the natural world.
