History

All children will be given the opportunity to have access to the History National Curriculum to enable them to develop to their fullest ability the skills and knowledge and to foster an understanding of the past and its relevance to the present. History should inspire pupils` curiosity about their own past and the past in Britain and the wider world. They should consider how the politics, beliefs and cultures of past societies influenced their actions, and in so doing should develop a chronological framework in which to place significant people and events.

Pupils will be encouraged to ask questions and find and weigh up evidence to reach their own conclusions. They will develop the ability to argue for their own point of view and present their work in an appropriate way.
